I finaly made it to Bulgaria,
Driving alone accross 9 countries in 4 fairly long days.
only real problems (over sights on my part) Traffic Jams on the German Motor ways.(Just as bad as England maybe worse)
Sat Nav not compatible with major road closures and the Ferry at Bechet - Oryahovo to cross the danube from Romania into Bulgaria,
Border official informed me of 4 hour wait for next Ferry.I ended up driving to Ruse to take the bridge crossing.
The stopping to pay Vignette Taxs in Austria,Hungary,Romania and Bulgaria Borders are a bit of a Faf,
But all in all i am very relieved to arrive safely in Veliko Tarnovo in one piece and car in one Piece.
Now the real adventures begin!

Glad to hear you made it in one piece, and at a sensible pace: some folk do it in a day and a half, which frankly would kill me - and probably also kill a few other road users if I tried it!

I believe you can buy all(?) the required vignettes on-line, saving time - and cash IIRC.

As adventures go, you'll find this one reasonably safe and manageable - as some have discovered, the most "dangerous" part is the chance of shooting yourself in the foot....or becoming the subject of silly gossip Wink

A rented apartment with no internet? That's rather unusual, at least here in The Smoke...

Thanks Seedy and Country girl for your kind advise.
I got my internet today, was preinstalled just needed turning on, and to supply me with WIFI modem, and got TV (not cable, they say but seems like cable TV to me).
The adventure i referred to Seedy was more an escape from the dreary life i had in the U.K.
not necessarily signing up for a Jason statham assault coarse.
I feel very safe here in Veliko Tarnovo, and the local Bulgarian people have been most helpful and friendly.
I am really glad i have come here so far, and have lots of new questions and topics to hopefully keep this forum alive!.

Keeping the forum alive sounds like a useful endeavour - whether it's feasible is another question but "many a mickle makes a muckle"... Wink

I quite agree. It would be a shame to lose this forum which is why I've reappeared. If the usual shenanigans start again I shall disappear just as quickly as I returned. You know who I mean.

After a year in Spain, I can honestly say I've never been happier to take a very long drive with lots of dogs back to Bulgaria. Maybe a journey of self discovery (and a lot if euro's) but my hearts in Bulgaria and now we're here, we're staying put!

Welcome to Bulgaria Milton. It's a marmite kind of place co think, love it or hate it. It's good on toast too.....

Thank you all for your kind replies,
and welcome back to tonytg,
Today and this weekend i am traveling to Belogradchik and staying two Nights in Vidin,
then a quick trip to Sofia airport to drop off family then back to VT,
Castles are a passion of mine, So having a weekend to snoop around a bunch of old rocks,
should be enjoyable for me at least.
I will let you know how i get on.
Happy Weekender Milton.
