It's a pity that there are no reports/feedback on these meetings and the topics raised - or at least none that I've seen. Just gallivanting round the country talking to those who have the opportunity, time and inclination to turn up isn't much use to the rest of the British community here - or is there some alternative motive lurking in the background? Cool

Well, I could say that most of us do have the time and opportunity to attend as most Brits here are retired, and if it's simply that you haven't got the inclination, then why should you have the information, but I won't.
But yes, it would be useful if anybody who attended one of these sessions would post some feedback, meanwhile, as you know, there is no definite scenario yet. Deal or No Deal? Who knows? Whatever happens the situation is basically the same for us until the end of the transition period, which is December 31st 2020.
Meanwhile this may be of interest -

Well, if you had said that (which of course you haven't Wink ) I would point out that not all retired folk here have time on their hands to listen to a series of meetings explaining that no-one knows what, if anything, is happening - or going to happen - but that IF something does then we'll tell you as and when HMG starts to have a clue about it. In any event, I can't imagine that many people have much inclination to listen to someone saying "Dunno, Guv" in a variety of different ways, especially as she presumably doesn't claim to speak for Brussels or Sofia and everything she says will have an implied "Without Prejudice" as a caveat.

Of course, we'll all have been bombarded with the latest information about what's being decided in the media anyway before Her Ex rolls up to show us that she too can read... Very Happy

If nothing else it has transpired that there may be an issue with regards to driving licences on account that their has been little or no negotiation on the subject. UK driving licences may not be valid after March 29th regardless of the transition period. This also means that UK licences cannot be transferred to a Bulgaria,EU, licence after this date. Bulgarian licences should be transferable back to UK licences providing a photo copy of the UK licence is kept. The Bulgarian authorities require that you UK licence is surrendered when you apply for a Bulgarian licence.
If there are any updates to this in subsequent meetings I hope it will be posted in a timely manner as my better half is worried about loosing her UK licence.

I were a "belt'n'braces" chap - which I am Wink - I might invest £25 and "lose" my UK driving licence, so I have one to surrender and one to "find" afterwards if I ever needed it....legally dubious but it might just come in handy. Cool

IMPORTANT

International driving permits for UK drivers from 28 March 2019

The rules for international driving permits are changing. Check which type of IDP you need to ensure that you can legally drive when you visit another country.

Only relevant - for the time being at least - if Bulgaria also leaves the EU on the 29th of March... Wink

Well I bit the bullet today and have successfully applied for my Bulgarian driving licence. I did the 'medical' and visited a ophthalmologist today as I wanted to retain more than simply the car only category and then went to KAT. Not too bad but the staff were saying the numbers of brits applying in Yambol had shot up. It's back to KAT in a months time to pick up new licence.

I'm glad I did and its one remaining thing I hadn't done. So whatever happens with Brexit, it won't affect my driving!
